As Paws For Thought draws to a close, our final blog of 2015 goes out to the amazing Four Paws Animal Rescue, who run a dedicated team of foster homes around the Cardiff, Newport and Oxford areas.
Across their foster homes they currently have 15 dogs waiting to go to their new homes, and with constant calls coming in for re-homing and strays they are always in need of foster home spaces.
We thought that with Christmas only a few days away, they could do with a little festive fun. The toys were delivered and unwrapped, ready to be distributed among the foster homes.
We were overwhelmed by the story of Fudge the River dog, who came to Four Paws, two weeks ago after Sarah Lavender found her struggling in a fast flowing river. She had endured emotional and physical trauma, as well as having a growth on her foot.
Fudge was taken in by Four Paws, and amazingly Sarah began to raise money for her.
On the JustGiving page, Sarah has currently raised over £2000 for care at the vets. This lovely fundraising story means that the excess can go towards other dogs in their care, as they have an influx of dogs, especially older dogs, in their foster homes over Christmas.
Four Paws’ foster homes provide a stable and caring environment for the animals to be in at this time of year whilst they wait to be placed with potential families. It gives these loving animals chance to adapt to people and new surroundings.
There is always need for fundraising, and Four Paws host many events such as online photo competitions and auctions, Paws4Tea events, street collections, and their bonus ball lottery scheme.
